more security and safety with new baby in the home

Congrats, You Are New Parents!

With this added bundle of joy in your family, comes added responsibility for you as new parents!

Mom + Dad + Baby = Family

As the leaders of the pack so to speak, you are in charge of keeping everyone in your new family safe, and your most valuable possessions secure.

If you have an older child, or two, or three, you’ve most likely already adjusted some of your security and safety protocols each time you added a new bundle of joy to your family. If this is your first baby, we want to make sure that you are informed to make the best decisions regarding safety and security for your family.

How Do You Keep Your Home Safe for Your New Baby?

Here are a few tips we’ve gathered from the experts i.e other parents and security professionals.

  1. Install a security system with HD cameras and remote access
  2. Use a mobile app to check-in on babysitter and baby from work or wherever you might be
  3. Connect your fire alarm and CO2 detectors to your monitored alarm system
  4. Connect door alarms to your home security system to alert you when any outside door is opened
  5. Connect a pool alarm to your system so you know when someone (or something) enters your pool
  6. Use timers for lights and also install motion-detecting lights to deter criminals
  7. Install childproof locks on cabinets that hold household cleaning supplies and chemicals
  8. Keep all guns locked up at all times in a gun safe
  9. Teach older children to not open the door to strangers

Keeping baby safe inside the home is great, but what about dangers coming in from outside?

A home invasion is a very traumatic experience, whether you have a new baby, or not.

How do you keep your home safe for your baby?

How Do You Keep Your Home Secure for Your New Baby?

  1. Make sure your security system is monitored by a trust-worthy monitoring station with a quick response time.
  2. Install and use a baby video monitor in baby’s room to check on baby when at home, or add an extra security camera to your system to monitor baby from anywhere in the home and while away from home.
  3. Add additional smoke detectors near your bedroom and baby’s room
  4. Insist on background checks on all your domestic help, including your babysitter
  5. When having work done on your home, be sure to double check that all windows and doors are secured and locked at the end of each day
  6. Each night, do an evening walk-through check to secure your home
  7. If you’ve just moved into a new home because you needed more room for baby, get all locks changed immediately

There is never a guarantee that a break-in or home evasion won’t happen to you and yours, yet there are many ways to deter a criminal. Then if you have a monitored security alarm system, you have the added knowledge that when help is ever needed, help is on the way with the push of one button, or with one tripped wire, or with one smoke alarm going off.
